Flavio Virzi

Flavio Virzi – originally from Palermo – is an italian guitarist and poly-instrumentalist performing a wide range of music styles; he did numerous first performances of pieces for classical and electric guitar, mandolin, banjo and electric bass.
As a soloist or as a member of different ensembles has been invited to perform in many festivals, among them Schwetzinger SWR Festspiele (D), Il suono dei Soli (IT), Milano Musica (IT), Euro Microfest (D), Highscore new music Festival (IT), Festival Aperto (IT).
In 2014 his duo project, together with flutist Sonja Horlacher, “unassisted fold” released an album for the the finnish Label “Limit cycle records” with new works of microtonal IDM (intelligent dance music), glitch and Techno music for flutes, guitars and electronics composed by Jukka-Pekka Kervinen.
After approaching music as an autodidact and playing with several rock and punk bands, Flavio graduated at Conservatorio “V. Bellini” in Palermo, école normale de musique “A.Cortot” in Paris, Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel. Currently Flavio lives and works in Frankfurt.
